Information for Presenters

The University of Ottawa has Eduroam and public WIFI.

Each room is equipped with a projector, remote control, and a computer with which to give your presentation. Sound is available if you wish to play videos during your presentation. There are also HDMI connection ports if you want to use your own computer. Please review the tabs below for specific presentation-type information.

Posters

Dimension for posters: 4ft by 4ft. You can display vertically or horizontally, as long as it will fit on a 4ft by 4ft board.

Poster sessions will be held on the 1st (28th) and 2nd (29th) day of the conference. Poster presenters are strongly encouraged to set up their posters on the morning of their scheduled session, between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. However, the posters are accessible all day and you are welcome to set up your poster later if you are unable to in the morning.

During the poster session, presenters should be present at their poster to answer questions and speak with attendees. Thus, presenters need to be present at their posters the following times for each Poster session:

Poster Session 1 (May 28th): 4:45 – 6:15 PM

Poster Session 2 (May 29th): 4:45-6:15 PM

 

Papers

Sessions are 75 minutes long, please allow time for switching between presenters by adhering to the following guidelines

For sessions with 5 papers: Please keep your presentation to 12-14 minutes.

For Sessions with 4 papers: Please keep your presentation to 14-16 minutes.

For Sessions with 2 or 3 papers: Please keep your presentation to 15-20 minutes long. It is acceptable to end early for sessions with 2 or 3 papers.

Paper presentations are delivered as oral presentations and many people use PowerPoint or similar program to present their work (although it is not required)

 

Symposium and Discussions

Please contact the organizer of your symposium for information about the length of your presentation given that the number of presenters in a symposium or Discussion session can vary. By default, please adhere to the guidelines under “Papers”.

Join #popscope for an Astronomy Viewing!
#popscope, it is a volunteer-led urban astronomy movement that started in Ottawa, Ontario 2012! Since then its approach to inclusive democratic astronomy gazing has spread to cities and countries around the world, with passionate volunteers hosting over 500 free events open to the public. We are delighted to return to Ottawa and host another free star-gazing event for conference-goers and Ottawa residents. Weather permitting, we will be admiring the Moon and any visible planets and deep sky objects. The event will be cancelled/postponed in the event of heavy clouds or rain. Registration

**Before you can register for the conference, you must first become a member of JPS.**

Regular Membership is 60 dollars and Student/Retired membership is 30 dollars. Reduced Membership for Faculty is 30 and for students is 15 dollars for members from developing countries.

If you are experiencing issues with your visa, we recommend that you register anyway so that way you are in the program. If ultimately you are unable to attend for any reason, you can always withdraw your submission and request a refund.

“Reduced” refers to rates that are available to individuals working in developing countries.

Guidebook Download Instructions

1. Download Guidebook from your phone’s app store

2. In the app, select “Passphrase” on the bottom left

3. Enter passphrase “piaget2026” and select “continue”

4. Download the guide to have easily accessible on your phone during the conference!
