Dear Members of the Jean Piaget Society:
The Jean Piaget Society: Society for the Study of Knowledge and Development is seeking nominations for a President-Elect, as our current President, Stuart Marcovitch, will complete his tenure as president in June 2026. President-Elect will be appointed by the Board for a one-year term before beginning a 3-year
non-renewable term as President (Bylaws, Section 9.5).
The Society provides an open forum, through symposia, journal, podcast “How Ideas Travel”, News Blog, and other publications, for the presentation and discussion of scholarly work on exploring the nature of the developmental construction of human knowledge. The Society encourages the application of
advances in the understanding of development to education and other domains.
The Society is particularly interested in nominees with evident commitment to diversity and inclusion, who can provide leadership consistent with the mission and values of the Society.
The term of President-Elect begins in June 2025 and requires a 6-year commitment, including one year serving as President-Elect (2025-2026), three years as President, and two years as Past President.
Please review the following criteria and consider nominating a colleague or yourself for the position. Nominators should prepare a short description of qualifications. Only current members may nominate.

Prior Board Experience
The President-Elect should have an understanding of
the issues facing the Board and of the dynamics of Board decision-making.
Commitment to the Society
The President-Elect should have a history of involvement in the Society in a variety of different ways, including but not limitedto attending, volunteering, making presentations, organizing meetings, and serving on committees.
Status in the Field
The President-Elect should have earned professional recognition for work examining knowledge and development—work that is central to Society’s mission.
Leadership and Managerial Abilty
The President-Elect should demonstrate success in leading and managing academic groups.
