The City

Serbia’s capital Belgrade is located at the confluence of two rivers, Sava and Danube, and is one of Europe’s oldest cities. Ruins of a Neolithic settlement have been unearthed nearby, while the first settlement on the site of the modern city was the Celtic town of Singidunum, which was built here in the 3rd Century BCE.

Centuries of influences coming from various cultures have created a unique blend of culinary cosmopolitanism and local tradition specific to Belgrade. Belgrade’s culinary offering ranges from high-class gourmet restaurants, kafanas, all the way to edgy bars.

Belgrade also has a reputation for vibrant nightlife; many clubs that are open until dawn can be found throughout the city. The most recognisable nightlife features of Belgrade are the barges spread along the banks of the Sava and Danube Rivers.

The Faculty of Philosophy has five floors with conference rooms of different capacities and all of them are accessible to individuals with mobility issues.

    • The main amphitheater is located between the ground floor and first floor and can accommodate app. 350 participants.
    • Two big rooms are located on the first floor, and both can accommodate app 140 participants.
    • Five additional rooms with 40-80 seats are located on the first and second floor.
    • At least six additional rooms with a capacity of 30-50 seats are located on the third, fourth, and fifth floor of the Faculty of Philosophy.

All rooms are equipped with a desktop computer for presenters, a video beam and screen, and internet connections. It can be accommodated to enable presenters to use their own computers. The IT office of the Faculty of Philosophy would provide additional support in accommodation of the equipment in conference rooms as had been done in the case of previous conferences organized at the Faculty of Philosophy. If some additional IT or AV equipment is needed, it can be bought or rented.

The main building of the University of Belgrade (Rectorate) and main building of the Serbian Academy of Science and Art are located nearby (app. 100 meters away). In both institutions there are main conference rooms with app. 200-250 places that are used for academic ceremonies and lectures (see photos).
